The Communication Explosion

The explosive growth of the Internet and the World Wide Web has created a form of mass communication unlike any other.  In 1990, the Internet was used only by scientists to exchange information.  But today, the Internet is a household word and a global communications tool for millions of people.

Internet users exchange messages around the world electronically.  They surf the WWW, tapping the masses of information and entertainment the interlocking system of computer networks offers, virtually unconstrained by time and space.  Through the Internet, thousands of companies, organizations, media and individuals tell the world about themselves, sell their wares and promote their ideas.
